Off-Grid Battery System
Off-grid systems are the most common solar power systems for mountain houses, vineyard cottages, highland homes, farms, caravans, yachts and boats. Energy captured from the sun is consumed directly during the day while also charging the batteries. When the sun sets, your electricity needs are met from the batteries; you have no connection to the grid at all — your electricity comes entirely from the sun. In off-grid systems, correct system design and battery capacity calculations are essential for a long-lasting system. With good design, JEL batteries can last up to 5 years; LITHIUM batteries can last even longer. The battery type is chosen based on the consumption at the installation site: JEL batteries are ideal on cost for loads like lamps, TVs and refrigerators; if appliances such as air conditioners or ovens will be used, LITHIUM batteries are preferred for system longevity.
